Fame in the 20th Century
Clive writes "A project dear to my heart, the eight-part television series Fame in the 20th Century, produced by Richard Drewett and Beatrice Ballard, was videotaped in 1992, screened in Britain, the United States and Australia, and later vanished beyond hope of recovery, since every inch of footage in the gigantic compilation belonged to some agency legally equipped to charge the Earth."
[ Some of the YouTube copies here may have survived because they've been through so many generations of duplication, transfer, downscaling, transcoding, re-sampling and inappropriate stretching that their images are now barely recognisable; we thank YouTuber Grant Bernes for preserving them, even in this state. Grant notes that "Some footage ... was required to be removed due to copyright content". A new upload from Cesar Ponce Hernandez resolves the quality issues but gets clobbered by the music copyright machine — those few bars of a song from a movie must really hurt somebody's revenue... Where they'd let me embed only the low quality versions (Episodes 2 – 8), I've provided a link to Cesar's superior HQ ones on YouTube. Come back when you're finished! — Archive Editor, August 2020 ]
